Inspire Nonviolence, Ignite Change in 2024!

For many, the holidays are a time of joy and togetherness but, unfortunately, not everyone experiences this season in the same way. For many individuals and families, the holidays can be a challenging time, marked by fear and uncertainty. This is especially true for those affected by domestic violence (DV), a pervasive issue often hidden behind closed doors.

Our programs and services are designed with a deep understanding that domestic violence impacts the entire family. In Indiana, thousands of people experience DV each year, and the Center for Nonviolence is dedicated to serving them.

At the heart of our mission is an unwavering commitment to providing a safe space for survivors to share their stories and get the support they need to heal from the harm they have experienced or are currently experiencing. When survivors are ready to speak, we are here to listen. Every story shared is a step toward healing!

We also help those who have caused harm transition from asserting control over others to adopting nonviolent options that are based on equality and power-sharing instead. When someone who has caused harm is ready to change, we are here to encourage their transformation. Through education sessions and group dialogue, we equip those who have used violence in the past with the necessary tools to become compassionate partners and parents in both the present and future.

This commitment extends to the younger generation as well. When a child faces bullying at school or lives in fear of violence at home, we are here to affirm and support them. Whether they attend our school-based Nonviolent Leadership sessions or our weekly LGBTQ+ and youth support groups, the young people in our community can depend on us to feel seen, safe, and cared for.

You make all of this work possible. As we reflect on the values of compassion and giving this holiday season, we invite you to join us in our vision to create homes, communities, and a world free from violence and oppression.

Our goal is to raise $15,000 by January 2024 in order to sustain the life-changing programs and services we offer to those facing domestic and other forms of violence. These funds are key to keeping our doors open to everyone who needs us in the coming year. Thanks to everyone who supported us on Giving Tuesday, we're already $1,434 closer to that goal!

Your contribution, no matter the size, can make a difference in the lives of those we serve. Here are some examples of what your gift can do:

$50 makes it possible for someone using violence or force to attend a violence intervention session.

$100 makes it possible for 10 students to attend a school-based FACES Nonviolent Leadership session.

$500 makes it possible for 20 survivors to receive personalized, one-on-one advocacy services with a DV advocate.

But the true impact of your support goes beyond the numbers and donation amounts. It resonates in the powerful words of those directly impacted by our work and your support:

I found my strength through their support. The Center heard my voice when I thought no one would.
— Miranda, Survivor of DV
The program for Queer teens changed my son’s life. He’s no longer afraid to be himself. He’s hopeful for his future and so am I.
— Aisha, Parent of LGBTQ+ Youth
Taking responsibility for my actions was tough, but the Center for Nonviolence showed me I can change my beliefs, make better choices, and heal my relationship with my daughter.
— Calvin, Intervention Participant

This giving season, can we count on you to stand with us against violence?

Your commitment to creating a safer world for all is a gift that truly keeps on giving. Together, we can make a meaningful impact and build a future where everyone can experience the joy and warmth of the holidays without the shadows of domestic violence.

Thank you for your support.
