DVAM Buy or Give

While many of us will “trick or treat” this month, the members of our Violence Prevention Team are asking you to Buy or Give in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM). Help the team create a sensory station for the youth who participate in our school and community-based FACES Nonviolence Leadership Program by buying items from their Amazon Wishlist or giving a donation via the Community Foundation grant catalog!

For children with sensory processing disorders, stemming from autism, disabilities, ADHD, or complex trauma, a sensory station provides tools that help to refocus, recenter, and relax the mind and body. Items that would help our Violence Prevention Team build a sensory station include:

  • Noise-canceling headphones

  • Emotion and feeling cards

  • Liquid timers

  • Tactile and imagery books

  • Blankets, stuffed animals, and comfy pillows

If you are able to “Buy” please see the team’s Amazon Wishlist!

If you are looking to “Give” this year, The Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne’s Grant Catalog is live and 100% of your donation will provide the supplies our Violence Prevention Team needs to continue serving Fort Wayne youth enrolled in our programming.

Domestic Violence awareness starts with finding ways to prevent future violence. When our children have the tools and resources to handle their emotions and feelings, we all benefit. Thank you for helping us provide education and resources to the youth in our community!

Be sure to ask for your free popcorn and drink at the concessions before the film begins at 2 pm. A panel discussion and refreshments will follow the screening.
