Summer at CFN

Summer has been buzzing with activity at the Center for Nonviolence!

In just a few short weeks, we will be wrapping up our summer programming at McMillen Community Center. Throughout June and July, our FACES Nonviolent Leadership team has been working closely with the kiddos at McMillen sharing with them important lessons on violence prevention, such as being a good friend and understanding how personal actions can have a ripple effect on those around us.

Bringing July to a close at Fort Wayne PRIDE was an absolute blast. We couldn’t wait to share some of these captured moments from this past weekend with all of you.

We're keeping the community engagement momentum going into August with these upcoming local events where you can catch Center representatives.

  • First up is the Wayne Township Family Fun Day hosted by Trustee Austin Knox at the Wayne Township Trustee Office (320 East Superior St.) happening this Saturday, July 29th, from 2-4 pm.

  • Next, we'll be the 2nd Annual Community Mental Health Awareness Walk and Back to School Event hosted by the Society of Black Mental Health Professions. This event is being held on Saturday, August 5th from 10 am thru 1 pm starting at McMillen Park and ending with the back-to-school giveaways at Weisser Park.

  • Then on August 19th, you can catch us at the annual Serving You Saturday hosted by the Community Harvest Food Bank at Tillman Park from 9 am-11 am. This event is all about sharing resources with the food bank's clients in a fun and uplifting atmosphere.

Finally, we’re thrilled to share that we've raised nearly $1000 in support of the two new initiatives in our Support and Advocacy Programming. This amazing progress will help ensure that Black women survivors and adult LGBTQ+ survivors who seek services at the Center have culturally-affirming spaces to heal and grow. Your contributions have been instrumental in making this happen. If you haven't had a chance to donate yet, don't worry, the giving link is still open!

Thank you for being a part of our community and for supporting our mission to create a more inclusive and compassionate world.
